Contest: Design a Klean Kanteen Water Bottle

the OBJECTIVE
Design the Klean Kanteen GOOD Special Edition Earth Day Bottles.

the ASSIGNMENT
Break out your art-creating equipment/software and make a design that can appear on the Klean Kanteen GOOD Earth Day bottles. The design should somehow relate to the theme of Earth Day, but it can be representational or abstract, it can be a pattern, or it could even just be text.

We'll accept submissions until 11:59 p.m. on Monday, March 8. On Tuesday, March 9 we'll update this post with information about how to vote. We'll count votes though Friday, March 12 and announce the winner on Tuesday, March 16. The winner will get five Klean Kanteen GOOD Special Edition Earth Day bottles sporting his or her design.

The Brass Ring Awards 24

The Brass Ring Awards competition is designed to motivate and reward students for excellence in art and design. Cash prizes are awarded and students may submit work in any of 40 different categories. This year marks the 24th year for the Brass Ring Awards, which attracted 949 entries in 2008 from 22 universities and 17 high schools. The awards presentation will be Sat., April 3rd at 3:00p.m. in Judd Theater.

Last day to submit: February 15, 2010

It's time to see how your design work stacks up. It’s easy to enter online with $9 entry fees for all categories. Don’t miss the deadline: Enter now.

Eligibility
All undergraduate students and high school students with artwork in the following areas: art direction, graphic design, illustration, photography, game art, interior design and fine art. Separate categories will be judged for high school and college students.

Awards
We award best of show, gold, silver, bronze and merit awards in each category based on the judge's scoring. All winners will be shown online.

SIGGRAPH Battle Royale



Do you have any animations or graphic art that you have been working on in or out of class? If you think your work can handle the competition be sure to submit it to the Battle Royale. Judges will determine the best work and the winner will receive an awesome prize. In addition you will have the chance to put "Winner of the UW-Stout SIGGRAPH Battle Royale Competition 2009" on your resume. The deadline to submit work is April 24th, and the winners will be announced at the reception night on April 29th. For more information download the Submission/Information form. Please submit your work to the SOC Desk or the Art Department office on a CD/DVD with the submission form printed off. Good Luck!

They are looking for animations and graphic art with a narrative. The animation has a narrative/story of some sort and should be at least 30 seconds minmal. The graphic art should also have a narrative. This means the artwork should convey a story.

This is short notice, but there is a student show happening at Iowa State University.

Entries only cost $5, so it is dirt cheap to submit work. Check out the website for more information (the only downside is that works need to be submitted by midnight on feb. 18th (wednesday)... Though payment has to have that postmark feb. 18th.

Best of Design Show

Everyone should start thinking of what they are going to submit for the Best of Design Show happening in the Furlong Gallery from March 12-27. This is a great opportunity to get recognized and to see what the other students around you are capable of. (It's pretty amazing!). You can submit any work from 2D Design, 3D Design, Presentation Techniques, Adv. Presentation Techniques, 2D Digital Imaging, Design, Theory & Methods, Furniture Design, ANY GD, ID, INT or MM class. You can pick up your submission form on the cabinet in front of the 2nd floor art office.

There are 7 awards (
Best 2D, Best 3D, Best GD, Best ID, Best INT, Best MM and Best in Show.) Winners will receive gift certificates from Penco.

Poster Contest

If you're already sick of your school work and just want to create something you think is amazing this is your chance. (and it would be great to put on your resume!)

Objective: To promote an awareness of diversity on the UW-Stout campus, hosted by the SSA Diversity Committee

5 winners will be chosen and their posters will be printed and distributed all over campus. This will be an great opportunity for students to show their talent and get campus wide recognition.

Deadline is February 25, 2009

Possible Themes:
What does diversity mean?
Unity: what does it mean it terms of diversity?
Ways to embrace diversity
ways to stand up for others
whats of how to be cool in diversity. (ex. stay true to your opinions while respecting other's opinions)

Call for Submissions

Here's a great opportunity especially if you already have your art work organized and ready to go. Deadline is on FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 13th.

mnartists.org together with the Minneapolis Public Library are calling for submissions for the 2009 ARTmnexhibition program.
Work that is chosen will be in an exhibition at the Minneapolis Public Library's Cargill gallery opening in Fall 2009
