Resources [on & off campus]


In your Senior classes you'll be asked to be thinking beyond your design and more about the materials, inks and paper... but why wait that long? Your design will look so much better if you start early!

ON CAMPUS
-Screenprinting Lab 2nd floor (after you've taken 1 class just buy your own screen, inks, etc) for metallic inks, new effects, print on bottles, 3D packages... Paul Delong = screen printing professor
-2nd floor industrial/interior design labs- Large Format printers (free)
-3D printer in the industrial design department (ask Andrew Macintosh-print lab guy- for help) makes your file into a 3D object
-Process Lab, 1st floor - - get a mold done for packaging etc.,
-Print resource center- inkjet large format printers (use for projects with more graphics & typography-less imagery, rich colors)
-art metals room - sandblaster, woodburning (like burning a logo into a wood sculpture)
-3rd floor resource center: design books
-4th floor Library: Design books/art history -very cool

-instructional resources (library)--sell books to you for cheap
-packaging technology department (other side of the process lab): lab assistent can help you, lots of different packaging materials, help you with different folds, what kinds of materials are best for creasing/folding

-screen printing > new machine this year that can print full color images

****if you think of it they work with you to make it happen- they do act as a business> give them some lead time, they can work with you and help with your design to get your project done the way you want

-In Downsville: take any design and turn it into vinyl so you can transfer it to basically anything (such as the type they put on the student gallery glass)...ask Jeff in the Furlong Gallery for more info *pretty cheap*
